Didn't know that Rob had passed. We were on the same little league team, as many of us future Clarke High boys were. I rode back from upstate New York once with Rob. I was still an undergraduate at SUNY Binghamton. Rob, a SUNY Buffalo (early) graduate was starting a psychology PhD program. He regaled me with feats of memory including being able to recall long strings of numbers through some kind of psychological mental chicanery. I thought this is not at all the same goofy guy who roamed the little league outfield behind Bowling Green Elementary.

I learned of Rob's passing a few months after the event. We were house mates as undergraduates at SUNY Buffalo in the mid-1970s. He was a great house mate and wonderful guy. He went on to become a national leader in AIDS research and made very significant contributions in this arena. We stayed in touch. I invited him to a mini-Clarke reunion in Fort Lauderdale, FL a number of years ago. He came up from his home in Miami to attend.  I miss Rob and his sly sense of humor. My heart goes out to the wife and children he left behind.
